The Ideal King, Shriram !

 H.H. Dr. Athavale’s quotes on the presentstate of affairs in our beloved country   People still remember the ‘Ramrajya’ of Shriram, who is an ideal for all kings. On the other hand, the secular form of our democracy is a failure in every field, as a result of which, immorality, corruption and anarchy are rampant in our country. Points given here will make it clear why ‘Ramrajya’ was an ideal kingdom.   We also have to establish an ideal ‘Hindu Nation’ that is founded on Dharma as an alternative to the failed democracy. • Shriram would commence the affairs of His royal assembly only after paying obeisance to His family Guru Sage Vasishtha; whereas, the present day rulers indulge in insulting Saints and Brahmans every day !

• The present day rulers do not pay attention to even a single complaint of the subjects; whereas, Shriram, who is an ideal for all kings, took cognizance of even the incorrect complaint of a washerman and gave up His guiltless wife !

• The present day rulers do not abide by Dharma (Righteousness); in fact, they transgress all restraints advised by Dharma for rulers; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, is renowned even today as Maryadapurushottam(Supreme amongst the men who abide by restraints advised byDharma)!

• The present day rulers make a lot of promises of development to the people in every election, and do not fulfil them; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, is immortal in annals of history for fulfilling each promise He made without fail !

• The present day rulers stick to their seats of power despite plenty of allegations of corruption against them; the ideal king, Shriram, who had a detached attitude, left the kingdoms of Ayodhya, Kishkindha and Lanka for others to rule !

• The present day rulers do not find any long term solutions for the health of citizens; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, gave His people ‘Ramrajya’, where there were no diseases and no untimely deaths !

• The present day rulers make their people suffer from malnutrition through their corrupt ways; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, bestowed his people with an ideal ‘Ramrajya’ that was favourable for His people and prosperous in every way !

• The present day power-hungry politicians stand for elections as independent candidates by rejecting their Party orders; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, accepted exile in the forest for 14 years in obedience to the command of His father !

• The present day rulers ridicule the rituals of Yadnya (Sacrificial fires); whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, Himself went to safeguard the Yadnyasperformed by the Sages, and later, He Himself performed a Yadnya for the welfare of entire earth !

• The present day rulers make all the borders of our country unsafe by allowing infiltrators to enter freely, get thouroughly beaten at the hands of a enemy country in a proxy war, as also from Naxals and terrorists every day; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram, went to the enemy’s (Demon Ravan) den to destroy him, and later performed the Ashwamedha Yadnya to declare His sovereignty !

• 'The present day rulers (irrespective of the party they belong to), with their own downfall bring about the spiritual downfall of their subjects in their rule, meaning they take them towards Hell; whereas, the ideal king, Shriram guided His subjects to sadehamukti (Moksha or Final Liberation, while still embodied) !
